Missions

“And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority has been given to Me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you’” (Matthew 28:18-20).

We delight in being part of all aspects of Jesus’ great commission, here in our local community, in our country, and around the world.

Our missions focus is increasingly centered on evangelism, discipleship, church planting, and training of national workers and pastors. The goal is helping national leaders to develop self-sustaining, healthy churches where new believers can be taught what it means to be a disciple of Jesus.

We believe that getting to know our missionaries helps us better support them in all ways, especially in prayer. We have many opportunities throughout the year to meet and hear from our missionaries, such as “Lunch and Learn,” speaking during worship services, and sharing during Sunday morning groups. These meetings are open to anyone who wants to attend.

Attenders of Maywood often go on short-term missions trips here in America and abroad. Short-term mission trips bless and transform the lives of all those involved by allowing them to see how God is at work. The Missions Committee specifically and strategically supports both adult and youth missions trips with financial help. Many of these short-term trips focus on helping and encouraging our missionaries that we support in Romania (with Camp Horizon) and Lynch, Kentucky (with Heritage Ministries), as well as other places around the world.
