At Maywood, Children's Ministry is all about Jesus - in line with our church-wide vision statement of "Becoming a People Who Reach People for Christ." It is our desire at Maywood to plant the seed of Christ into the tender hearts of children in a safe and age-appropriate environment. Everything is designed to aid you as parents or guardians in showing your children the centrality of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in all of Scripture and life. We seek to help you to disciple your kids in a relationship with Jesus Christ evidenced by true heart change. We have many different ways we accomplish our Gospel mission with kids through Sunday morning classes, Wednesday night meetings, our Tutoring Club, special events, and more!
In addition to having our Sunday classes for kids at the 8:00am, 9:30am, and 11:00am services, we also believe children are an integral part of the body of Christ and should be fully incorporated into it. One of the ways we do this is through "Family Worship Sunday" on the first Sunday of each month. While kids are always welcome and encouraged to be in our Worship Services, we have set aside a special week each month where we take a break from classes for kids 1st Grade and older so that they are worshipping and growing in their love for Christ right alongside the rest of the congregation.
Taking care of for your infants and toddlers is one of our top priorities at Maywood. Each Sunday morning, our nurseries are available to provide care for your 0-2 year-olds during the 8am, 9:30am, and 11am Services. Both the Infant and Toddler Nurseries are located next to the Worship Center as indicated by their signs. Each week when you arrive, you will sign your child into our automated Kid Check System and mark down any other needs your child may have for that day. We also have a nursing room available next to the Infant Nursery that allows you to still watch the service on a screen at the same time.
We use a security and safety program called "KidCheck." It requires parents to sign up online and register their children. When you drop the kids off you check them in using this program. It helps to make sure we know which kids are attending that morning and who can pick them up when church is done. Register here on KidCheck's website

AWANA
Come be a part of AWANA - (Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed) - 2 Timothy 2:15! Kids and youth age 3 (by Sept. 1st) through 12th Grade have the opportunity to grow closer to Jesus Christ every week. Age 3 through 5th Grade meet weekly on Wednesday's in our Faith Factory throughout the school year from 6:20pm to 8:00pm. We have a blast each night memorizing God's Word, playing fun games, hearing Gospel-focused lessons, dressing up in silly outfits, and learning to serve our Savior.
The Awana Program for 6th-12th Graders works in conjunction with our Middle School Ministries (6th-8th Grade) on Wednesday Nights from 6-8pm and High School Ministries (9th-12th Grade) on Sunday Nights from 6-8pm, both in our Youth Area, the Loft. For more information on how to participate in Awana at these grade levels, contact our Pastor of Student Ministries, Tony Viola, at tony@maywoodbible.com
Anchored
3rd-5th Graders are faced with increasingly blatant unbiblical worldviews each and every day. We seek to partner with you as parents in equipping them with God's Word, praying the Gospel remains their "sure and steadfast anchor of the soul" (Hebrews 6:19). Our desire is that they would not only believe in Jesus, but repent of their sins and lovingly follow Him, making wise and biblically formed decisions. We offer a weekly meeting time during the Summer on Wednesdays from 6-8 pm including Bible lessons, games, and snacks. We also have various events throughout the school year such as Dodgeball Nights, Movie Days at the Theater, and Jonomac Apple Orchard.
Tutoring Club
The Tutoring Club program is designed to help at-risk students from 1st to 4th Grade in three critical areas: social, academic, and spiritual.
Keys to the success of the program are: it's free, the tutoring is with the same adult week after week, and it's one-on-one.
Each family is interviewed so that an evaluation can be made of each student and choose the children who are most in need of academic help. We also share basics of the Christian faith. The children are able to learn social skills with other kids and adults and there is time for fun activities.
During each Tutoring Club night, the church provides a nutritious meal followed by the one-on-one tutoring. The club meets Mondays from 5:30 to 7:40 p.m starting in September and will conclude for the school year in May. Call the church office at 815-874-6806 to learn more about having your child tutored.
Tutors have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the kids as well as reach out to their families. If you’d like to volunteer as a tutor, substitute tutor, cook, or prayer partner, then visit our serve page.
